3 Common Mistakes Keyboard Beginners Make

Posted By Bryan Smith on March 27, 2009 @ 3:20 am

For beginners to learn how to play the keyboard, advices from someone experienced is always important. Proper guidance ensures that the keyboard beginners take the right path when learning how to play keyboards and accelerate their overall progress.

For those keyboard beginners without mentors, there are common mistakes that they tend to make and can sometimes result in undesired long term repercussion. Here are 3 common mistakes to avoid.

1) Negligence on the basics

Foundation learning is the keystone in achieving proficiency when you pick up any new skills. In the case of playing the keyboard, this is even more so. Some keyboard beginners took the wrong decision by going straight into playing instead of starting off with basic exercises that teach them how to play with the correct hand postures. Not learning musical theories can also hinder the progress of keyboard beginners later, when they are bound to face problems reading the scores.

2) Lack of Passion

Many people choose to learn to play keyboard because of the glamorous side such as being able to play the keyboard by ear and composing music. They completely missed the fact that to get to such levels of adequacies, immense amount of practice, hard work, and time need to be sacrificed first.

Keyboard beginners sometimes come into the picture because they are under the illusion that playing the keyboard can be learnt quickly. When exposed to the reality that consistent work is required first and foremost, many will look back and realize that the keyboard may not be right for them after all.

3) Learning from the wrong materials

Some keyboard beginners unfortunately fall for the traps of keyboard teachers and home study courses that misguide them from the very first day. It is dangerous for keyboard beginners to learn from the wrong syllabus as bad habits, such as poor hand postures, are extremely hard to rid of once cultivated.

Another threat is when the beginners who are taught by the wrong people will most certainly find improvements harder to come by, as a result of their poor education. Many keyboard beginners lose confidence and give up under such scenario.

The common mistakes that keyboard beginners make are often linked to decisions made due to a lack of good advice for them in the beginning. When you start out without anybody providing information for you, always make sure you take some time to do all the necessary research first.

You need to carefully select the DJ for your Wedding

Posted By Mae Summerville on March 26, 2009 @ 4:46 am
by Mae Summerville

While other details for your wedding may be overwhelming you, selecting the right DJ for your reception should rank amongst the most important. You might think anyone can DJ even a small child but remember the DJ will be a major player in entertaining for your guests. We have a few pointers to consider when selecting a DJ:

* Does he have an adequate amount of equipment to insure all guests can hear him and the music. There is nothing worse than having your guests sitting in stone silence.

* Besides musical skills he needs to be able to stand up and speak clearly to your audience. Keep in mind he will periodically need to get up and make announcements. The microphone he uses is as critical as his speaking voice. How long he will be needed as well making sure you and he agree on the music to be played should be done prior to the reception. He cannot read your mind and so needs to be told precisely what time to be set up and ready to go. Be explicit and what you expect and never assume he knows your plans.

* Does he give you advice on suggestions for improving the tone and atmosphere of your reception. An experienced DJ knows what works and what doesnt at a wedding reception as many have done hundreds or thousands. He should be asking the size of the crowd, the median age of the crowd, and should also be getting a feel for the type of atmosphere that you want portrayed at your reception.

* As with any sort of subcontractor the money needs to be spelled out and fully understood by both you and he before the reception. You know better than to pay someone before they fix a broken pipe and should know never pay fully prior to getting your DJ service.

* Checking out how he is in action is worthy of your valuable time. Ask to attend a similar wedding or gathering prior to your own to see what he does and how he does it. He is a showman see how good he is. Anyone will tell you they are awesome but check it out for yourself. See what he does for the bouquet toss, the garter toss, the cake cutting. If he is good he makes these events exciting to your guests. Be sure he knows all the events you will be having at your wedding reception.

* Be sure and get his music catalogue so that you can select music to be played. Keep in mind when you do this that several generations of people will likely be there and so select things that will appeal to all the participants. A good DJ can help you greatly with music selection.

Just like the other wedding vendors you have, the DJ is worth screening prior to the wedding so that you can have a magnificent reception. Also remember no one can read your mind. Make certain the DJ you select can deliver what you want.

CD Duplication Made Easy

Posted By John Sommer on March 23, 2009 @ 3:17 am
by George Hutre

When CD’s first came out everyone would rush to the store to pick up his or her favorite band’s album. Now though at about fourteen bucks a pop, many people are now using CD Duplication to get all of the songs that they want on compact disk. There are three main reasons this may be done.

Be careful though when you do this because laws have been enacted that prevents duplicating materials that are copyrighted. So check the laws in your area of the world before going ahead with this. Many times folks go through this CD Duplication process to have numerous copies of one CD for the same cost of the original.

With this method they can provide their buddies a copy of the CD too. Bands also do the CD Duplication when they are recording their music, this allows them to have demos or share their music with loved ones. Making demos this way helps them promote their band at fairs and other local events. Even ministers and church choirs make inspirational CDs for fund raisers or just to get their special messages out.

By making copies of the CD, pastors are able to make sure that even those who were unable to attend the service are able to hear the message. As you can see there are many reasons why a person would want to make duplicates of a CD they have. Whether it is for entertainment, educational, or spiritual enlightenment there is a place for CD Duplication.

There is a problem that you should be cautious of though. A lot of times CD’s that are nothing more then copies will not play in some CD players. You may find that a duplicated CD may work fine in one CD player but then not at all in another. Some players are simply unable to read duplicates or copies.

This will probably happen to you and there is nothing that really can be done about this. All you can really do is just tell people to play it on another CD player. If you are going to copy some CDs that you have, then when you buy the blank CDs make sure they are good quality.

Are you using the cheapest ones you can find? If you are that is probably the problem. Buy and high quality CD blank and you will have fewer occasions when you have to throw bad ones out. So take enough time when you are shopping for CDs and you will not have the high number of errors and have to waste so many blank ones.

It can wind up being costly if you use the cheap CD blanks, and have to throw a lot of them out because they did not work right. If you are making a large number of copies, you can save the most money by purchasing your blank CDs in bulk form. So check out the bulk prices near you.

Zune Game Downloads and Where to Get Them

Posted By Davion W on March 17, 2009 @ 3:24 am
by Davion W

It is not that easy to find quality Zune games on the internet. Many sites offer downloads but may not actually be qualified. Knowing how to pick the right site will help avoid scams, downloading flaws and disappointing downloads.

The first thing to do is to look around the site and see the files that are available for download. Good sites offer selections of games, movies, music, wallpapers and etc. Choosing a site that doesn’t have any good Zune game downloads is a waste of time and money.

The next step would be to know what type of membership to have, either lifetime membership, or per download. Lifetime memberships usually cost around $30 to $60 while per download, each costs $0.99. For unlimited downloads, lifetime memberships are the better choice, especially if you are going to use the service on a regular basis. A site offering guarantees on their service is a good sign. There are also some sites that have non-paid trial periods of at least 14-21 days.

A site requiring money spent for downloading games for Zune is better than free sites. Paying to download games for Zune can help avoid bringing in viruses and infectious software. Free sites offer only limited safety and unknown quality for Zune downloads.

It is always best to pick a website that is not hard to use and has available 24 hours help from the administrators of the site. Site problems or complaints with the Zune game downloads may be reported quickly so that the admin can attend to the problem as soon as possible.

Last, choose a site that offers fast downloading speed. Downloading speed is important so users will not have to wait too long. Check out how to find the bandwidth of a site to be able to know which sites will offer quick downloads.

Choosing a game Zune downloads reviewers have their eye on is good. That means those games have been tried and tested and just by reading the reviews, any user would know which games would be worth downloading. . Games like Hexic, Alien Wave, Black Out and Manic Miner are just some recommended games by other users. After downloading a game, remember to write a review to help other users in choosing their games. What you will write will serve as guidance to future users who will also resort to the net like you did.

I have evaluated various sites that offer games for Zunes. Read the reviews that I have written for each of them and know which of them can be trusted.

Playing the Organ is fun!

Posted By Bryan Smith on March 16, 2009 @ 3:57 am
by Bryan Smith

Although there are many people that think that if they can play the piano then they can manage to play the organ without any adjustment, they are wrong. Other than the keyboard, there are very few other similarities between the anatomy of the organ and that of the keyboard.

Have you ever heard the rich, harmonious sound that comes from the organ during Sunday Service? This is done by the organ player using their feet on the pedals, which produce the low-pitched bass line to help to bring the sounds of the organ alive. This is entirely different from the two pedals that a piano player uses when playing the piano.

There is a unique art in playing the organ, one that you too can develop with a little help and knowledge of the organ itself. The first thing to know is the difference in the pedals that you will use when you are playing the organ. The pedals range in keys from C, D, E, F, G, A and B, and shorter, higher keys for C#, D#, F#, G# and A#. This is imperative to know, otherwise your magnificent selection that you have decided to play on the organ may result in the sound of a woman screaming.

If you truly want to learn how to play the organ, go out and purchase a small organ and make sure that you purchase one that has the foot pedals. Experimenting with different types of music is the key here. If you already know how to play the piano then you should either know how to read music or play by ear, if not both. Try playing some of your favorite music on the organ. How did it feel? How did it sound? Unless you already know how to play the organ, it probably sounded pretty awful. Nevertheless, you have accomplished one goal. You have acquired some new knowledge, and that is the first step in making a huge difference.

Sure, you can play piano music on an organ, but it will sound different. The best way is to experiment with the various foot pedals to see which sounds better, and learn that way. If you are able to sort out the various keys on the pedals to find out which keys sound best when playing the organ then you are well on your way to learning how to play the organ.

Additionally, you could also purchase a DVD which contains organ lessons on it. Because most people are better able to learn by watching instruction, be sure to watch how the person plays the organ. Watch their footwork, how they hold their feet on certain pedals. Listen to how the music sounds. By taking the time to practice, you too will eventually be able to play the organ like this.

The one thing to remember is that it took some time to learn how to play the piano, and similarly it will also take you some time to learn how to play the organ. If you really want to accomplish this goal, make sure that you are in the right frame of mind. Do not get discouraged as nothing is accomplished overnight. Nevertheless, if you truly want to learn, you will soon find that you too will be playing the organ.

Why You Should Teach Your Child To Play Piano

Posted By Brent Sweet on @ 3:37 am
by Bryan Smith

There is nothing more mentally stimulating then being able to teach your child to play piano or any musical instrument. There are so many benefits to teaching them to play. There are studies that have found that children have benefited emotionally, physically and intellectually by learning to play an instrument, and more specifically the piano.

Playing the piano creates an emotional outlet for the child. No matter what the child is feeling, he is able to let it out through his music. If he is happy you will hear it in his music and if he is sad you will hear it as well. Anger may come through as a loud banging noise that sounds horrendous, but even this is good therapy for the child. You can consider the piano to be an emotional counselor for your child.

Piano lessons are also very good for your child physically. Your child will have to sit in a straight upright position for the duration of his lessons and has nothing to lean back on. This will be a reminder to him of good posture positions and may discourage him from slouching. He will also have to use his arms and fingers, and if you think that this is not exercise, then think again.

The first time practicing the piano will show you how many muscles you have in your hand and fingers and you may feel very sore until you have played the piano a some more. The child will not be able to fidget during his lessons, and just having to stay still and let his fingers, hands and arms do the playing is an exercise for the child. Remember, just because something looks simple does not mean it is. Especially at different age levels.

Piano lessons will also raise your child spiritually. Children have very deep thoughts and emotional experiences that we as adults can never understand. Creating music will create a bond between the child and the piano that will hit him very deeply. Many people that play the piano talk about the value of discipline, hard work and schedule structure when they discuss the piano, but these are really secondary to the spiritual uplifting your child will experience as you teach your child to play piano.

You can teach your child to play piano at home. You do not need to go out and get a fancy instructor that will end up doing the same things that you can do. All you really need to do is download a course geared towards adults and children and you will be able to teach your child right away. By following the course outline and methods you can give your child the gift of piano music for many years to come. Take a look at some great courses that can help your child get all of the benefits listed above and many more.

Learning a New Instrument

Posted By Twyla on March 23, 2008 @ 10:44 pm

Most people that know me would say that I am very musical.  I can play the trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet and guitar.  Though it has taken awhile to master these instruments, I just love music, and all that practice doesn’t seem like work to me.

So, when I had the opportunity to get a learn & master the piano course at a discount, I really couldn’t pass it up.  I have wanted to learn how to play the piano for so long, but I had been unable to find a suitable course or teacher to teach me how to play.

It turns out that when I told my aunt that I was going to learn how to play the piano, she offered her old piano to me as a gift.  Now, I have everything that I need to learn how to play – I just have to take the time to do it.
