Getting Cheaper Games

Posted By Twyla on June 4, 2008 @ 1:37 pm

I am a big fan of action games on the computer. I found that I was spending a lot of money on them and even a lot more time. I decided to see what I could do to try and find the games for less money. Most of the sites that I download the games from give you sixty minutes to play for free. By then, I am hooked and end up paying for the game.

One of my favorite sites to download from was BigFish Games. I decided to see if there was a way to pay less for my games and I learned about their affiliate marketing program. I thought it would be good for me to write reviews on the games that I had played and I knew that I could earn a commission if anyone purchased the games through my links.

It sounded like a good idea to me, so I decided to give it a shot. I have earned several free games and I am happy that I am now only wasting my time and not my money.

Catan Crazy

Posted By Twyla on May 14, 2008 @ 9:16 am

I got my all time favorite board game for Christmas. It is called the Settlers of Catan and I would play from morning until night if I could find someone to play with me. I was introduced to it a couple of years ago by some friends and I was hooked from the very first game I played.

In the game, the goal is to get points by buying towns and cities. You use commodities to build different things and you can get ahead by trading commodities with other players. I am not sure whether I believe that one commodity is better than another, but I know that wood and brick are important commodities at the beginning of the game.

I would consider myself a pretty goo strategist when it comes to this game, but it is also very dependent on luck. You can have the greatest strategy in the world and if your numbers are not rolled, you are out of luck.

Leave the Past in the Past

Posted By Twyla on December 26, 2007 @ 4:10 pm

I have always been good at playing classic games like Mario and Sonic, but I have so much trouble getting into the new ones.  They seem to be way to technologically advanced and devoid of the simple fun that games used to be.  It also bothers me that companies seem to come out with a new system every few years, rendering the one that I was finally able to afford obsolete.  For example, I had my Atari for years…

I decided to play some online games because I was told that you could find a lot of the older ones to play.  I did find a few of the ones I had played as a child, but found them to be quite a disappointment.  It just wasn’t the same as playing on the original game console.  Either that or the games were a lot worse than I remember.

Another problem I had was actually finding the games.  It seemed that when I did a search, for every classic game I found, I got results for twenty casino games.  These were certainly not what I was looking for.  I have since decided not to go there and just have fond memories of gaming in the past.

Level 70 in WOW: In One Day

Posted By Admin on December 10, 2007 @ 4:49 pm

Now, I am not here to wow (no pun intended) you with my leveling up skills, rather, I will tell you how I made it to level 70 on World of Warcraft (WOW) in just one day.  Don’t think it is possible - I dare to say it is.

Now, forget what you have read in any of those WOW guides you can find online.  Sure they show you where to go and how to do it, but can you gain 70 levels in one day?  I doubt it.  Though they may not show you how to level up that quickly, they can be a good resource on how to complete quests, how to accumulate WOW gold quickly, and can be a good resource if you are looking for something in particular.

But like I said, I made level 70 in one day.  How did I do it?  Well, have you heard of sites that sell WOW accounts?  Well, the way these work, is you can buy the character you want, at the level you want, with the items you want.  You pay for this account in real life, with real money  (not game money) and the account is delivered to you usually within 24 hours.

So, if you want to be high level, without wasting any time, just buy an account - the amount of time you save is well worth the money.

Picking the Proper Games for my Child

Posted By Admin on December 7, 2007 @ 5:25 am

A big part of the responsibility of being a parent, is moderating what your child does and sees.  Depending on their age, you should help them choose what to watch on television and what video games they play.

I am at the point where my children want to play video games - and I need to step in and help them make responsible choices.  Since I do not know a whole lot about the video games today, I make choices based on the reviews I read.

From the Wii game reviews and Xbox 360 game reviews I read, my choice is clear: the Xbox 360 is not appropriate for my children.  Their games are full of violence and geared towards adults - and for my five year old, he would be to impressionable to play those games.

So, my decision is clear - I should get a Nintendo Wii.  With the bunch of family oriented game and potential exercise they could get from playing, this is definitely what I will buy.

A Little Fun Anyone?

Posted By Admin on November 26, 2007 @ 1:12 am

Well, my philosophy on life is that a little fun each day is essential.  If life was all about work - why would anyone be happy?  You know the saying is "Enjoy Life" not "Work Life".  So, I make a point to enjoy life every day - even if it is only a brief time.

Lately, I have been playing some fun action games.  Now, I am not talking about blowing people up, or shooting everything I see, rather something where you need to move around a lot.  For example, serving tables in Diner Dash - something where there is a lot of action.

On those days that I don’t feel in the mood for fast paced action, I turn to playing fun puzzle games instead.  A little solitaire, some Mah Jong, or maybe a little Scrabble round out my favorites.  It helps my brain get stimulated, while not working too hard.

So, if you want to live life - play some fun games once in awhile - it keeps me young and happy.

My Four Year Old’s First Computer

Posted By Admin on November 5, 2007 @ 5:11 am

My four year old son just got his first computer complete with Internet access.  Many people think that there is something wrong with that, but in this technological age, I feel that being computer literate will give him advantages in life.

There is so much that he can do already on his own.  He can start it up and logon to his favorite free online games.  This gives him something to do with his free time besides watch television.  Most of the games he plays are educational.

He is quickly learning his way around the web and I try to use his computer as a teaching tool.  If he has a question, we go to the computer to try and find the answer.  This is also teaching him problem solving skills.  We also like to look up interesting facts about his favorite interests.  I have learned a lot about dinosaurs and he has sure absorbed a lot of that information as well.

So, until I am proved wrong, I think my son having a computer is a good choice for us.

What are Crossword Puzzles?

Posted By Admin on June 27, 2007 @ 7:07 am

A crossword puzzle is a puzzle in which words are guessed from clues or definitions.  These words are placed into a grid of black and white squares with the letters in either horizontal or verticle orientation.  The letters are arranged from left to right, top to bottom, with the black squares separating the words or phrases.

The earliest known publicised crossword was published in the New York World by Arthur Wynne in 1913.  Other notable dates are 1924 when the first crossword book was published by Simon and Schuster.

In the present you can find crossword puzzles in print (such as a newspaper or magazine), on your computer (like a computer game) or even online.  You can even go online to get free printable crossword puzzles.

If you feel like trying to make a crossword puzzle like the professional puzzle makers do it, you could try to do it on paper.  An easier solution is to use a free online crossoword maker that will make the puzzle for you - all you have to do is supply the words and clues.

I gave into WoW

Posted By Admin on December 29, 2006 @ 8:07 pm

So I gave in and went to buy WoW gold, WoW power leveling, and a few WoW accounts. My son is pleased with everything I bought him. I did spoil him but he?s willing to work off the WoW accounts because those cost me the most. I bought him about 6 different accounts 4 for him and 2 for his best friend. I thought why not since I got a bonus resently. I hope he doesn?t get it in his head that I?ll always do this for him. This World of Warcraft gift is a one time deal for him.

FFXI Gil

Posted By Admin on @ 8:06 pm

So I?m thinking of buying two FFXI Accounts for both my sons so they won?t fight over who got what. Then on top of that they may want me to buy FFXI gil. Or I could just get FFXI power leveling, which may be cheaper and something they could enjoy. It may leave them feeling accomplished if they know they helped level their accounts. Or I can always have them slave of the yard and clean the house. That?s not that of an idea. I really don?t know if I should even get them anything so soon after Christmas. This actually may be the perfect gift for their birthdays.
