Boy does time fly while you are in college. It seems that since our days are so busy doing the assigned coursework, attending classes, and trying to have a social life, that life just flies by. It doesn’t seem that long ago since I attended that first class way back in September. But, with final exams upon us, I thought I would take a little look back at the past three months of this term.
Classes in January started out without a hitch. I think it was the first year or that I didn’t end up going to a wrong class or missing one on that first day of school. Most of the classes I attended during that month were very interesting, and the only issue I had was with my economics teacher the didn’t speak English very well.
February brought with it cold-weather and three essays that I had to write. Those papers thankfully were on three different subjects so they weren’t so bad. I even made a point of starting them early so that I wouldn’t have to work on them at the last minute.
I would have to say March was the worst as most of the classes I was taking were behind up to that point, so we rushed through the material. There were also a couple of term papers that I worked on during the month that took up most of my free time.
Now all that is left are the final exams that I will be taking this month. It will be a nice change of pace to start my summer job in a few short weeks and have the opportunity to forget about schoolwork for four great months. I just can’t wait.
If I had known how hard it would be to do dissertation writing and taking care of a baby at the same time, I would have reconsidered doing both. Before the baby was born, I figured I would have a lot of time to do research and write really good papers. Looking back, I should have just taken a year off and worked on my dissertation a year later.
I got to the point where I would go to fellow students to see if I could buy research paper material from them. I did not mind doing the actual writing myself but I had a hard time getting out to do the research. Hauling a baby with you wherever you go is a lot more work than it seems.
I had a few friends that even offered to write me some custom research papers. I knew that I could not do this but their hearts were in the right place. I did manage to get through that year but I have to admit, that it was one of the longest and toughest years of my life. I wish now that I could have devoted all of my time to my baby.
While studying to get my masters degree, I took on a position as a teacher’s assistant to help pay my tuition and living expenses. I had always wondered what it would be like and I finally had my chance to find out.
It turns out that the role of a TA is not as glamorous as you would think. I spent many nights up late reading thesis after thesis and assigning grades to them. Though each dissertation that I read is interesting, it can be sometimes very tedious correcting their work, their spelling and making suggestions to them on how to improve their work.
It is even more frustrating checking to see if any of the students in the class have submitted custom term papers that they purchased online. If we do catch a student that has done such a thing, they are sent to the Dean immediately and risk expulsion from the school.
I can honestly say that being a TA is definitely not what I thought it would be. But on a brighter note, it definitely beats flipping burgers to pay the rent.
While doing some research for a couple of term papers recently, I came across an article about obesity in the United States. This is not what I was originally going to write about, but it prompted me to make a change in my topic. The subject has such a huge impact on me, as most of the people in my family, including myself, are obese.
It is really hard for someone to admit that they have this problem and I knew it was going to be really tough write a termpaper on the subject, but it needs to be done. I think that people are more and more aware that this is an increasing problem, but many people do not understand that it is a disease and even more do not know what can be done about it.
I spent hours upon hours in the library, reading other peoples research papers on the subject. Some were really good and some were not so good. I knew that I wanted mine to make an impact on people. I wanted it to be small step in understanding that obesity can be genetic and we are not all gluttons and pigs that have made ourselves look like this.
I am not sure that anyone other than my professor will ever read the paper, but I am not sorry I wrote it. I learned a lot about myself and who I am and for that I will always be thankful.
The biggest waste of time in my life was back in the day when I was working on my dissertation. I put a lot of effort into it and when I was finished I could not find a job in my field of study to save my life. I spent a few years after college as a salesman for a local car dealership.
Being a car salesman was certainly not what I was dreaming of when I was working so hard writing my thesis. I dreamed big and I figured I would quickly work my way up the corporate ladder when I got my first job out of college.
Thinking back to the time of when I was doing my research proposal, I wish that I had not wasted so much time in college. I now own my own successful used car dealership and I probably make a lot more money than I would have even if I had been able to find a job in my field of study.
When I was in high school I had several students try to buy term papers from me. I was always an exceptional student when it came to English, as I had a love for books at a very young age. I was not the most social person, but I had the vocabulary of an adult by third grade. This is due to the fact that I was very well read and could always be found with my nose in a book.
When I entered high school, my social life got even worse. Rather than try to make friends, I would spend all of my spare time in the library. I knew my high school library inside and out. I would read novel after novel and I would write book reports on them just for fun. I guess I was more than a little bit of a geek, but I was not sure how to be anything else.
One of the popular girls in my class offered to be my friend if I would give her a custom written essay for a big English assignment. I declined and was shunned even further. But, even then, I knew that this was not the type of friend that I wanted to have. Thankfully, things were very different in college. I did not turn into a social butterfly, but I did make some friends and the few that I had were all that I needed.
My brother told me that a key to making it though college with good enough grades to keep my parents happy, would be to occasionally buy a custom term paper. He told me that when things get completely out of control and overwhelming, it would be a lifesaver and would give me more time to study for midterms and final exams.
I was shocked and appalled that he would stoop to buy a custom research paper. It was dishonest and just plain wrong. I told him what I thought of him and he just smirked and told me to come back during the Christmas break and tell me what I thought of him then. I was still angry with him when I left for college two weeks later. In fact, I almost told mom what he had done.
I am glad that I had not told mom, though, as I was only there for two months before I stooped to his low level and called him to find out how to buy essay papers. He laughed at me and then helped me get the best grade I had received so far all term. When I came home for Christmas, my brother and I now had a bond that had never been there before and for the first time in my life, I was thankful that my brother was such scum. That is because I was now scum with him.
For some of you out there who have been out of college for more than a decade (if you remember back that far), college applications were basically done by mail. Back in those times, you would write your application essay, put it in the mail, and hoped that it would get there on time.
Now, things are much easier. In fact, many students complete their admission essays on the day that they are due. Now, you don’t have to worry so much about the mail getting there on time, but instead you need to worry that the computers might be having a bad day.
Most students these days, apply for college and include an online essay as their application essay. This makes the administration’s job at the college much easier as they don’t have to go through envelope after envelope and manually enter the applications - they are already entered, and just need to be processed.
The Internet has definitely offered a new, cost effective medium for colleges to process applicants and streamline their admission departments.
