Sweets and Sweet Words at the Craft Show

We had such a good day at the Cherry Blossom Festival last weekend. It was located in Wooster Square, and I am thankful to our wonderful volunteers; Laura, Pam, and Vi Phan. They were a big help with regards to meeting and greeting the people at our booth. And speaking of which, I should also thank all of you who stopped by our booth, hang out and talked about other upcoming craft shows.

The Festival is currently getting ready to hold the Favorite Poem Project, as you may be well aware of. It is with the partnership of the Connecticut Library Consortium, and some other explosive community groups whose names escape me right now. A lot of people from the Cherry Blossom Festival have been invited to drop by our booth when Sunday rolls around. If you are an aspiring poet, craft your verses and recite them on camera. Or if you’re too bashful, copy it out onto the poetry journal instead.

To attract a crowd, one of our methods that we will use on Sunday, is to offer people some of the homemade sweets Laura has made. This method has proven effective at catching people’s attention, and as kids and adults will enjoy the sweet treat, we are satisfying both their mental and actual sweet tooth with candies and compositions.

So come on and be a part of it! You may find that you have an inner poet inside of you, who will reveal itself during the event. Go by our table in one of the upcoming fairs and festivals and we’ll see what happens.

For a complete schedule of craft shows in your area, all you have to do is make a casual search on the Internet. These days, it is very easy to find online fliers; and once you know which one you can attend to, we’ll see if we setup a booth there as well.

Chocolate is a food popularly made from the seeds of a tropical tree called the Cacao. The word Cacao comes from two Maya Indian words meaning bitter juice. The word chocolate came from Two Maya words meaning sour water.

Every year in Massachusetts, chocolate enthusiasts come together for the annual chocolate tasting and sale. Chocolate tasting and sale are usually held to update people on how chocolates nowadays are made. It is also to give us information that aside from the chocolates we are used to, innovated and better tasting chocolates already exists.

Nashoba Valley Technical High School hosted the St. Marks Chocolate Festival. Nashoba is located at the eastern part of Massachusetts. The festive is a benefit for local pantries. For a day, the whole school transforms itself into a chocolate lover’s haven, complete with all festive related decorations and an elaborate to eat all you can chocolate buffet. The event was $12 for adults and half the price for kids

Chocolate Tasting and Sale have the following featured chocolates: Tasse, sauces, chocolate bars and a lot more. All chocolates will be available for the publics tasting and for purchase. Live bands also accompanied the festivity.

In addition to abundant snacking, visitors had their share in judging the event they are to choose who amongst the participants have the best handmade confections. Handouts are distributed which will serve as their guidelines for describing the many chocolate flavors, from rich to bitter sweet to tart. The winner for this event was sighted for its uniqueness.

Fun and goodwill is seen throughout the event proper. Every one gets involved in their own special way of enjoying and taking part on the activities. The funds raised during the event went to the schools scholarships and renovations.

In the end, baking pans were scraped clean as the chocoholics emptied the left-over; every participant went home a winner, having the best chocolaty time of their lives, an event full of fun and at the same time all in the name of a good cause.

Tips on Displaying 2

Multi-tiered appearances also make for good appeal with prospective customers. The concept of placing multi-tier levels in your table is a bit of an optical illusion since it will give your display table a look of depth, quality, mystery and even evoke a bit of the customer or client’s curiosity. Arrange your products in a way that it will have the glorious depth of evoking the customer’s shopping hand.

With color coordination, it is important that you at least have a good color sense when coordinating stuff around the table. Contrast two different colors to bring each item’s good trait out. A good color combination will also bring people more to your table than some other display with drab designs and pale touches.

Your sitting height should be just as tall or at least taller than your table. Although it’s not for the writing prerequisite (like writing a receipt or a check), having a taller chair signifies confidence and will over all, and helps with the appearance of your table as well.

Have a separate space for displaying your products, transacting with customers and also for pay out and wrapping. It is quite hassling and disorderly to look at when everything is happening in just one table. Observe order and try to move everything to a different table (just don’t rent out another place or you might find yourself losing more money than gaining profits.)

Have samplers and free treats! That is one of the best ways to draw in customers, even if they’re just mildly interested. Don’t forget that it should be related to your craft wares (if it’s jewelry, seriously, think again). Business cards or colorful brochures ought to do for those which cannot be brought by samplers. Have at least a sampler for all age groups (or even species, like pets). You’ll never know when you’ll need it.

Fremont Bull Riding Classics in Fremont, Nebraska

Bull riding sport often leaves me in awe and in shock because of the bravery of the bull fighters. I have often see bull riding on the television and I can say that it always give me the chills to see these bull riders bodies literally being swayed by the bulls harsh and quick movements. That is the reason why I am very eager to attend one and see it for myself while I am here in Fremont, Nebraska. I am indeed excited and eager to attend this festival and I cant wait!

In bull riding, both the bull and the rider are given scores. The total of the two scores usually sum up the score for the whole competition. The participant with the highest score wins the event. Bulls are scored based on their agility, speed and bucking style. Bucking is what you call the galloping of the bull in its hind legs to throw off the rider.

As part of the rule in any bull riding competition, a rider should not touch himself, the rope, or the bull with his other hand. Free hand should remain free and should not touch anything, while the other hand grips the rope fastened on the bulls body. The rope is always coated with rosin, as well as the riders glove to prevent it from slipping. Apart from the gloves riders are expected to wear chaps as protective clothing for his legs and vest for his chest.

There had been some moral debate on the issue of bull riding and some of it arose from animal welfare organizations. They are against the use of hot shots or electric cattle prods which are used to ensure that bulls will run out once released from the chute. Supporters however claim that shots were of minimal dose and do not affect overall well-being of the animals since they possess thick hides.

Now Im definitely going to see the bull riding competition in Fremont. I want to be entertained and amused at the riders and the bulls.

Physical Wellness at Minnesota Craft Shows

When a nation continues to prosper, it has been said that its people become larger. This is a phenomenon caused by a sedentary lifestyle and is something that is noticed by the ancient Romans when the Gaul were invading. This obesity is the same problem that is affecting the modern Americans, as we have forsaken manual labor to instead working in an office cubicle for hours on end.

But this is not a problem that the people of Minnesota face. Fortunately for us, we are vested in continuous outdoor activities, especially during the summertime. Even though our economy thrives with a booming advance in the automobile industry, we do not forget to just go out there and have some fun. What’s a Minnesota family without a family cabin near one of our numerous lakes? Water-based sports, in particular, are events that we are especially fond of. The word “Minnesota” itself means Sky-tinted water, so it comes as to no surprise that we are fond of various sports based there.

This is fine during the warmer summer months, but what about the rest of the year? Yes, we are quite fond of watching and enjoying sports, but let’s face it, we will probably not make it into professional leagues. After our years in school, chances are good we’ll fall into the sedentary lifestyle that has trapped most of the population. I advise you to not let this happen. Look around for something physical to occupy yourself with; it doesn’t even have to be sports.

A suggestion is to get into making crafts. While they’re definitely not as physically taxing as the sports we love, it is something meditative and will give us a few moments of peace and serenity. And you get to engage yourself in a mild physical activity. Carving wood, or even embroidery involves moving your arms continuously. It’s something to pass the time with and feels nice to do as you watch the sunset in your balcony.

You may also want to go to the different craft fairs that happen around Minnesota annually. If you do this, you’ll not only get a bit of exercise you need as you explore the far, but you’ll get ideas for your own artworks. Search for craft show schedules online now!

Massachusetts

The state is geographically located off the region of New England and as a whole is located in the northeastern part of United States. Bordered by Rhode Island and the state of Connecticut in the south, by New York in the West, and New Hampshire and Vermont to the north. The Atlantic ocean opens up to the east borders of this state.

Massachusetts has a population close to six million four hundred thousand people living in the metropolitan area of Boston. The other parts of the state are mostly urban and suburban with the exception of Western Massachusetts, which is more rural or sub rural at the best.

The state had been an important nexus point in the development, advancement and was an agent of change of American history. US-famous Plymouth had been an English settlement in America. The pioneering towns were founded by English around 1620s and 30s in this state.

The state had also been tagged as the Cradle of Liberty because it was where the gears where set off which led to the revolution and, finally, to the imminent independence achieved by the United States from the English. Massachusetts was also known for its quality of temperance. It was the main hub for several organizations, mainly the temperance movement, abolition of conditions leading to the American Civil war, and first state to fully recognize legal same-sex marriage.

The environmental state of Massachusetts is said to be of the second generation. The state, or commonwealth whichever name you put it, was very rich and lush filled with deciduous trees, mostly pine and oak. Logging had left the local ecology in shambles, with only several ‘tree’ islands left that were the original ancestors of the second generation of forests. The urbanization of the east has left most of its wildernesses non-existent.

Arkansas Storytelling: Hansel and Gretel

Posted By Mercie Hallow on March 9, 2009 @ 3:10 am
by Mercie Hallow

The story of Hansel and Gretel tells the tale of a brother and a sister who were forced out of the house into the woods by their evil stepmother. Along the way, they lost their trail back home and came upon an edible gingerbread house made by candies and bread. Hungry as they were, they began feasting on the house as the owner came by greeting them inside for more treats. The owner happens to be an evil witch who uses the house to lure kids into coming to her to eat.

Hansel and Gretel were forced to obey the witchs orders. Gretel became a slave while Hansel was locked up in a cave to fatten before the witch eats him. In the end of the story the children was able to tricked the witch to her own death and returned home to their father who was happy to see them, telling them that their stepmother had died as well.

There are foreign childrens tales in different languages that resembles that of Hansel and Gretel. Book analysts sometimes claim that the Grimm Brothers tales is just an inspiration of some of these foreign books. Analysts often commented that the story is very much reminiscent of the poverty stricken Late Mediterranean Crisis where kids are forced into child labor.

The state of Arkansas annually holds a theater show of Hansel and Gretel as part of their Crafts and Fairs programs. The play is hosted by talented children from the Art Center from the Ozarks. Kids and young-at-hearts frequently flock the theater in Springdale to watch the well-loved tale.

Hansel and Gretel is just not for children but for the adults with a kid at heart too. Adults may want to reminisce and treat the kids within them by attending the Hansel and Gretel play at Springdale Arkansas early this year.

Fair Nights

Posted By Bob Jones on February 14, 2009 @ 1:41 pm
by Ian Kleine

The fair can actually be quite a magical place when darkness settles in, and the lights twinkle their soft glows like frozen fireflies.

I would have never thought that the fair grounds would grow quiet and soft-toned when night came. I had arrived earlier during the day and had scowled in distaste at how ill-romanced and impersonal the place seemed to be. For me anyway.

From the trails of the morning, it had lain quiet and tamed after during the night.

Only the soft footfalls of a few pairs of shuffling feet stirred the dust, before it settled down again, as if sleeping. Floodlights pierced the night sky, like pylons of white, only visible when it was dark.

I swear, the popcorn I had brought from the nice, old lady tasted more popcorny? Well, as how corny popcorn would taste anyway. The soda had an extra sting, and the corndogs didn’t taste too oily or fatty at all. Everything was clear and sharp.

Going ’round the Merry-Go seemed more magical too. It is just you, the horse, and the enchanting music that seems less annoying in the night than during the day.

People have that soft smile on their faces, a testament to their long day. You’d know fatigue when you see it, but here you find a bit of peace and relaxation. That in itself, is as mystical as it can be.

And when you go home from the fair, and look back towards it’s gates, you feel like you just left another world. A different one. One that opened only on that very special, one you would think would never, ever open for you again.

You find yourself wanting to spend another night inside the fair. If not, at least you want to find it in another place or another era.
