We have been having some issues lately with our excavating business. You see, we have been using pneumatic tires on our Bobcats for years, but it seems like we are replacing at least one set of tires (we own a large number of Bobcats) each day. This is costing the company a lot of money, so we have been looking for alternatives.
While on the hunt for a more reliable tire, we came across a site that sells skid steer tires that are guaranteed to be better than the ones that we are using right now. Not only are they supposed to last longer, but they provide better traction which is important for our company as we even work during winter.
We placed an order to try them out. Though the website looks promising, it will take a test drive for us to see how they will work out for our organization. Who knows, we might have finally found what we have been looking for.
A good friend of mine runs a wedding planning service. She has had many clients over the years, so I thought that I would pick her brain for some of her trademark secrets when it came to weddings.
From our little conversation, I learned a lot. She told me that there seemed to be two groups of people - one who was looking for ways to save money on their wedding bills, while the other just wanted to have the most amazingly grand wedding whatever the price.
But, for the most part, she told me that many couples hired her to help them save money on their weddings. A lot of the younger couples were keeping their savings for a down payment on a home as opposed to spending it all on their wedding day.
She told me that her biggest secret was to set up these couples with practical favors instead of expensive ones. It was one of the easiest ways for her to save a couple money on large weddings, because the cost of the favors add up quickly.
I came away from the meeting enlightened - things have sure changed since we were married many years ago.
I am a little disappointed in our phone service provider. We have been loyal customers for the past 10 years, and we have always paid our bill on time. This good behavior has allowed our business to get a discount rate on our regular phone service. You may think that would be a cause for celebration, but I beg to differ.
The problem with her phone company lies with the fact that even though we have enjoyed a discount on our regular phone services, we have been paying too much for our conference calling plan. You see, they charge us by the minute and our organization is at the point where we are using thousands of minutes per month and in turn paying thousands of dollars to have that service.
I figured that there must be some way to reduce our phone bill without losing the services are we enjoy. As it turns out, I found a company that offers flat rate conferencing at a price that is ridiculously cheaper than what we pay now.
We’ve contacted the company and they are providing us the opportunity to test drive their conference calling solution so that we can see if their promises live up to the hype. At any rate, it will be nice to reduce our current expenses by switching providers and allow us to build an emergency fund for a rainy day.
My father has owned a local camera supply and photo developing shop for the past twenty years. It is his passion and he spends a lot of time there. He had the opportunity to sell it a number of times over the years, but since my mom passed away, he doesn’t know what he would do without his shop.
He loves taking pictures and has always dreamed of owning a stock photo company someday. In fact, he probably still will some day. He is always looking for the latest products and technology to bring into the store. He has a lot of repeat customers that are like his own family.
When one customer came in and wanted to know if he could put photos onto canvas, dad did everything he could to find out about this technology. It is now a service that is offered in his store and has quickly become one of his most popular services. The final results are beautiful and I have many in my own home now.
I am in the market to find several cheap NBA tickets. I think the tickets would make great incentives for our employees to work toward and it would be nice to be able to reward them for a job well done. As everyone who works for us seems to love basketball, I thought that this would be the perfect incentive.
I went to the stadium to inquire about NBA tickets bought in bulk, but was not impressed with the prices that I was quoted. It would be way too costly to do it this way, and I knew that there were definitely ways to buy them a bit cheaper. I just had to figure out how.
I figured that it might just be best to buy NBA tickets as season ticket packages. This way, we would have a ticket to every single home game and we could send a different employee each time. I bought two packs, so the employee would get a pair of tickets and not have to go to the game alone. And the seats are pretty good as well.
I have been building and selling websites on and off for some time now. Usually, I can make some pretty easy money when I make these sites, and really it doesn’t take me much time. I have gotten it to an art of sorts, and my markup is pretty good.
Now, it took me some time to get all the pieces that I needed together to offer this service. I had to find a place that would let me register cheap domains at a price that was well below the market prices. This took me some time, and a number of emails to get the price that I was looking for.
Next, I had to find somewhere that offered cheap web hosting. Now, you might make a comment about cheap hosting, but I was looking for something more: they had to be reliable. This took a lot more testing before I did find a company to go with, but in the end, I feel that I found an awesome deal.
Last but not least, it took me awhile to find a tool that would help me choose which cheap domain names to register. I found an invaluable keyword research tool that helps me with my decision on which domain to register for my clients.
Speaking of clients, I should get back to work. I have a number of orders to fill tonight before I can go to bed.
I have a great plan to start a totally unique business. At least I think it is a great plan. I have an appointment with some very highly recommended business advisors. I would like to run my business plan by them and get their honest opinion about it. If they think it is a good idea than it is a done deal.
Another thing I will have to do before I launch the business is to find myself a very good tax accountant. I am sure that this business is going to make a lot of money and I think that having a good accountant behind me will be a smart decision. I can see myself being audited in the future.
I am so excited for the launch of my new company. The great thing about it is that I can totally run it from home and will not need to hire any employees to get started. In fact, I could launch it tomorrow if I was ready. That is as simple as it is going to be. I know I have a good thing here and as soon as I am given the green light, I am going to setup shop.
You would think that setting up a business would be relatively easy - but there are subtle intricacies that one needs to be aware of. If you don’t know all the answers (and all the questions), then it comes time to consult your team of experts - and they will find the answers for you.
For example, many people find what when they are setting up a corporation, they run into a couple of challenges and hurdles. One of the most common of these challenges is determining whether to setup a LLC or S corp. Most people are confused by the choices, but a good professional should be able to explain it to you in English - and help you pick the one you need.
Another good question to ask your team is whether or not you may find yourself subject to AMT Tax. They will be able to warn you before you make bad financial decisions and end up in an unfavorable tax position.
Just be sure to remember that a business is a team sport - and you should be using your team to advise you on the right course of action and answer all your questions. Just be sure that you are not afraid to ask.
I was interested in helping my boyfriend purchase truck covers and was looking at different brands available and where to best find them. He owns a fairly new truck dealership and was thinking about throwing a truck cover in as an incentive on the purchase of a new vehicle.
I was really impressed by one brand called Attitude Hitch covers. They were nice looking and of really good quality. I thought they would be a big drawing card for purchasing through our dealership. I wanted to do some more pricing, but I thought I would order one for his truck anyway.
Another brand I was quite impressed with was the Budge truck covers. They were nice, as well. I liked the others more, but it was totally a matter of taste and my boyfriend actually preferred the Budge. So, in the next few weeks, we will be able to make a decision on what we are going to do and if we will run this promotion.
In any business, whether it be a product or a service that is offered, it is a good thing to occasionally get opinions and reviews. This will help you to be able to offer a higher quality product or service and meet the direct needs of the consumer.
My brother owns an accounting business and before every client leaves he says ‘I need your opinion on the service we offer’. He asks questions and gets feedback from everyone.
I think that he was right on the mark when he did this, as he has made many changes to the business over the years because of his client feedback and he is now one of the most successful accountants in the city.
Even though some may be negative, it never hurt a company to get views and opinions from it’s consumers. As far as I’m concerned, it is the best way to improve on what you already have.
