With all the warm weather upon us, thoughts turn to spending a couple of quality hours outdoors in Summer. This might mean relaxing in the backyard after work or even having a BBQ and eating al fresco. Or you may have bigger plans, like a family get together or perhaps a children’s birthday celebration planned. Whatever your plans may be, keeping the children amused and active might figure highly on your list. A way to do this is to get an inflatable bounce house or bouncer.

Bounce houses are basically air filled structures that youngsters (and adults) can have fun on. They are a chance for kids to use all that never-ending energy they seem to have. They appear to have great enjoyment and their parents get pleasure from watching them have fun too.

The standard bounce house is only for jumping. This type usually look like a castle therefore the name jumping castle or bouncy castle. They have a large central jumping area that is supported by four inflated columns that might have mock-up crenellations, spires or pointy roofs. These columns offer the inflatable the look of a castle. Extra additions might incorporate an entrance that appears like a castle door or portcullis. Several also have a splash or paddle pool on the front of the bouncer that’s supposed to be a moat.

I’m unsure why the concept of a castle is so popular in inflatable bouncers but I guess the concept is to spark the imagination of the kids that see it. Little ones seem to be as fascinated by knights, princesses, suits of armor, swords and castles as they are about dinosaurs so I guess this is the thinking behind it.

With this said, the makers of bounce houses have branched out to include a lot of other designs in bouncers and things to accomplish on them.

These are also known as inflatable activity centers or adventure parks. They do not look like castles and their design is usually governed by the type of things that come with them. As an example, some bouncers have slides and climbing walls on them. Others could have tunnels to crawl through. And others might be a combination of paddle pool and jumping area (or a wet and dry inflatable).

You can hire these types of products or buy them. In several cases, renting one unit for a day could cost the same as buying one for yourself. Rented ones tend to be larger plus you do not have to stress about them getting a hole. Purchased ones are still a pretty good size based on the type you choose and to be honest, they’re not that hard to set up and appear quite durable.
