Because there are so many Web-savvy scrapbooking paper and embellishment designers today, the Internet is full of free digital scrapbooking supplies. That means all you need to know is how to do an online search and download files and you can have an almost endless supply of graphics to create professional-looking scrapbooks. That’s why famous artist Mary Englebreit recently remarked that the Web is a great source of scrapbooking graphics that will yield virtually anything you might need. And she should know about good images; products with her illustrations sell like crazy!

The following are some samples of the types of free scrapbooking designs I’ve found on the Web:

Babies and Children

Like weddings, babies invite the taking of photos. And what scrapbooker wouldn’t want to pass down a beautiful baby scrapbook to her child as he or she gets older? Fortunately, you can find a huge selection of scrapbooking graphics for babies. If you haven’t looked at baby images for a while, though, you might be surprised to learn that the colors are less traditional than they used to be. Burnt orange, chocolate brown and red are all the rage, as well as a few specific shades of green. Of course, you can still find lots of blue and pink, but these days there are many bold color choices too. And for older children, there is quite a lot of free clip art that reflects special interests, like ballet images, football clip art and World Series clip art.

Antique

There seems to be an upsurge in the number of people looking for vintage scrapbooking designs. Maybe that’s because antique art is so timeless and doesn’t date the final product to any particular modern era. Antique greeting cards make terrific vintage scrapbook embellishments, as do clip art images from years gone by. And when you can find digital scrapbooking papers made from compilations of vintage images, you’ll experience digital meeting traditional in a beautiful and useful way. Vintage images also cover a wide variety of subjects, including images as diverse as vintage flowers, magician posters, Victorian fashion illustrations, vintage cat clip art and vintage travel art. So whatever subject you’re trying to cover in your scrapbook, you can probably find vintage art to match.

Holidays

The holidays are great subjects for scrapbooks, since those are the times we gather with friends and family to create special memories. And Christmas, Easter, Halloween and Valentine’s Day aren’t the only holidays that make people want to create scrapbooks; many people are interested in the minor holidays too. There are all kinds of patriotic scrapbooking papers and embellishments on the Web for holidays such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Fourth of July and Flag Day. There are also many images out there for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Earth Day and any other holiday you can think of; even the silly or off-beat ones.

Floral and Butterfly

I’ve definitely noticed that people who scrapbook love flowers, and who can blame them? They work for nearly any occasion. Butterflies, too, have a large audience, because they represent summertime, freedom, happiness and other cheerful things. Flowers and butterflies are also diverse, because an abundance of them can be found as both illustrations and photos, and in modern and vintage styles. There are even butterfly scrapbook embellishments that span both vintage and modern in the same collections.

Wedding Images

Weddings and scrapbooks were made to go together, because couples usually have at least one photo wedding album. But a wedding scrapbook can preserve your memories in an even more creative way. There is a surprisingly good selection of wedding scrapbook images on the Internet that will allow you to create a lasting memento for little or no cost. And if for some reason you don’t find any specifically for weddings that appeal to you, flower images would also be a great choice.

So the next time you need scrapbooking graphics, check the Web. You might find some amazing free things.
