An acne diet sounds like a wonderful idea. Who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate may make you break out. I believe we all have. As a result, it does not seem so far-fetched that what you eat could prevent acne instead of cause it.
Nevertheless, a good acne diet is not easy to develop. Its very personal because it has to be based on an individuals responses to food. Progress, for the most part, will be trial and error. Watch your skin carefully. Write it all down. Taking pictures with your digital camera is a good way to keep a journal. If and when your skin clears, stick to the diet that you were using at that time.
Here are a few instructions to help get you started on an acne diet:
* Take in a lot more protein - Many dermatologists think that protein intake is related to clear skin. The reason for this belief is because protein has an enzyme that will limit the production of oils. Oily skin is very vulnerable to breakouts.
* Don’t eat carbs - You do not need to cut out carbs completely. But you should try to limit your intake so that they are about 40 percent of your diet. This is because compounds in carbohydrates can stimulate oil production. This is why so many people think that junk food causes acne. In reality, junk food is high in carbs.
* Drinking green tea is very good for you - If possible, drink the real stuff. The best type of green tea is the kind that you brew. However, if you can’t stand the stuff, then natural green tea drinks will do. Androgen production will be limited when you drink green tea. Breakouts have been known to be caused by a hormone called androgen.
* Try to limit the amount of salt you intake - Iodine is almost always located within salt. This is the reason why you hear table salt called “iodized salt.” Of course for some people with acne, iodine can cause big breakouts.
You must always be careful of what you eat and put on your face. If you have acne you are probably already more aware than most people of the ingredients in your beauty products. Those who are prone to acne should look for oil free moisturizers. These products will least likely cause you to breakout. If you wear makeup you may want to consider switching over to mineral makeup. Many dermatologists believe that mineral makeup can actually alleviate acne problems and enhance the results of your acne diet.
