The days are gone when the military were the sole users of parachutes. Though they are still in use for military movements, they are better know now as an extreme sport as well as a game for kids. Today an ordinary citizen can use for leisure and relaxation.
Many gutsy and curious people are drawn to such sports. Sky diving is not the extreme sport but there are variations of parachute sports and games these days. The Olympics now has several competitive events involving parachute sports. These games are now covered by X games an event which takes into account several extreme sports including skateboarding and snowboarding.
A number of parachute games are meant for children only. In the large number of variants that are made for children, the essential motive is to help the development of team spirit and collaboration more than winning any competition. There are many variants of these games for kids and some of the names read as follows: parashuffle, paraswap, parasight, paraseek, paraball, lucky 7, round the plughole, and shoe shuffle.
Adults however look for more thrills in the extreme version of the sport. While some holiday destinations provide opportunities for parasailing, some sites also offer parachute sports. Getting admitted to any skydiving course could train you better too.
Paragliding and parasailing are two versions of parachute sports which are far gentler ways to indulge in parachute sports. Paraglider is a kind of aircraft which glides in air free and is started using the feet. Parasailing is when you are towed by a boat as you are attached to the parasail. Though it carries its fair share of dangers, paragliding is not as hazardous as the other sports as mentioned below.
One of the riskiest extreme sport is speed skydiving where the diver should take a straight 13000 feet jump from an aircraft. Here the skydiver hastens during the vertical descent with head first through an area which is determined from before. The measuring zone through which the diver passes could be from 8850 to 5570 feet.
The board is attached to the feet of the sky diver which can be used for doing several thrilling acts. The sky divers may land on the board or may kick out the board just before landing on the ground. Skysurfing can prove to be fatal and skydivers who have the requisite experience and expertise only do this.
BASE (Buildings, Antennas, Spans (bridges), and Earth (cliffs)) jumping involves jumping off of fixed objects. This can be life-threatening if the relevant parachute does not work at the right time. Base jumpers need to react as fast as possible since they do not have the necessary altitude for a comfortable free fall. The chute ought to open exactly at the right moment otherwise they may land grievously injuring themselves. They should also be skilled in parachute packing to make sure that it will deploy correctly and in controlling their canopies for a safe landing. Parachute sports can be exciting but it does involve a lot of risk so if you are interested it’s best to start with the basic and apply for a skydiving course.
