Playing Word Games Online

Posted By Admin on August 31, 2008 @ 1:15 pm

Since I have been working the night shift at city hall performing maintenance tasks on computers, I am allowed to play games online while I am waiting for the computers to do their thing.  In all seriousness, I am there, but if you were to figure out how much time I really work, you would realize that I don’t do a lot of work at all.

So, I have been taking advantage of my freedom to play games online, and lately I have been playing word games that are much like Scrabble.  I thought that it would be a great opportunity to learn something new while keeping up on my spelling skills.

But the one thing that I have found is that there are a large number of health conscious people on the site that I play.  Typically, you can find many health supplement names on the boards (such as spirulina, barley grass and chlorella) and since I had never heard of them, I ended up looking them up online.

I think of it as a paid education and a tool to relieve the monotony from my job.

Crafting our Landscaping Designs

Posted By Admin on August 15, 2008 @ 8:26 am

As an innovator when it comes to landscaping design ideas, I spend a lot of time with a pen and paper in hand drawing out my latest ideas.  You can compare me to a writer in some respects, because when innovative ideas pop in my head, I need to write or draw them on paper so I don’t forget.

It hasn’t always been this easy for me.  Before I opened our landscaping designs company, I had my share of mistakes.  One good example would be the pathetic job that I did in terms of learning lantana care, and I managed to kill each and every one of those plants one summer.

But, I learned from my mistakes, and here I am - a professional landscaping artist.

Currently, we are working on some ideas for some of the city properties and parks in the area as well as a large number of residential properties.  If things continue at the pace they have been, we will have to hire more staff - we are just too busy.

Too Many Insurance Options

Posted By Admin on August 9, 2008 @ 12:25 pm

I have found lately that there are just too many cheap auto insurance options out there.  I really had no idea until I was compelled by the television commercials that say that you can save a bundle switching car insurance and I decided to check it out.

One of the things that I found that one cheap car insurance rate is not the same as another.  Though the prices may seem the same, it isn’t until you dig deeper that you notice that there are many different varieties of insurance policies and that you need to make sure that you get a policy that works for you.

A good example of this is that you can get classic car insurance in many different flavors and some will apply to your classic vehicle whereas others just won’t work.  For most people, the classic option won’t be needed as we mostly drive newer vehicles.

Needless to say, take your time when shopping for car insurance to make sure that you get the right fit for you and your vehicle.

A Round of Golf on Me

Posted By Admin on August 7, 2008 @ 2:56 pm

My father and I have been avid golfers for as long as I can remember, and we go out twice per month during the summer.  It has not only been a good opportunity for us to bond, but it gets us out of the house so our wives can talk without us around.

But golfing sure isn’t cheap.  To this day, I don’t think that I have paid for a round of golf as my father pretty much pays each time.  That makes me feel a bit like a freeloader, but I thought that I could maybe change that.

I had received an email a couple of days before we were going about a website that offered coupons on just about everything: even golf coupons.  I did a bit of searching on the site and found some coupons that I could use in town and even installed the IE coupon toolbar so that it would be easier to find coupons in the future.

So, I will surprise my father this weekend and pay for our round of golf.  I bet he will be proud that his boy is finally a man.

A Cufflink is a Cufflink

Posted By Admin on August 6, 2008 @ 6:55 pm

When I asked my dad what he wanted for Christmas he told me that he wanted gold cufflinks. I figured that this was an easy enough request, so I put it off to the very last minute. What I did not realize was that a cufflink is not just a cufflink and I had no idea what kind he wanted.

The jeweler immediately showed me some skull cufflinks (apparently she thought they were for me) but I told her politely that I did not really think that my dad was into the pirate look. She apologized and went to find something else for me.

She showed me a display of unique cufflinks and there was quite a variety to choose from. I chose a pair that I was sure would suit Dad’s tastes, and after being assured that he could exchange them if he wanted to, I bought them and headed home.

Troubles Finding What I am Looking For

Posted By Admin on August 5, 2008 @ 10:05 am

I love the fact that you can find just about anything online, but the one thing that I hate is when I get frustrated because I can’t find what I am looking for.  Though this doesn’t happen very often, it happens nonetheless, and I get a little rattled because of it.

This is exactly what happened to me when I woke up this morning.  You see, I was looking for a roofing company that could fix the leak in my roof that I just noticed because it rained.  Now, you would think that it would be an easy thing to find, but I had problems.

My search turned up many roofing Rhode Island companies, but they covered everything from commercial roofing Rhode Island, to flat roofing Rhode Island.  In fact, no matter what I did, I couldn’t find one to fix my residential roof, so I turned to the phone book.

In the end, I was able to find a company to come out and they should be out here in an hour or two.

Helping My Parents with Their Money

Posted By Admin on August 4, 2008 @ 7:12 pm

One thing that I noticed early on when I was a young adult was that my parents were not very good at managing their money.  It really came down to my father’s need to keep up with the Joneses and irrespective of of the cost, he would buy every toy that his neighbors and friends had.

The result of this overspending put my parents deeply in debt.  I tried to explain to them how to reduce credit card debt by following debt diet plans, but they wouldn’t listen.  Part of that problem was due to the fact that my father believed that he was always right and could never be wrong.

Five years later, things took a turn for the worse.  My father’s overspending had exhausted all of their savings and they were having difficulties making the minimum payments on their credit cards.  At this point, I told him that they need to go see a poor credit debt consolidation counselor before they lost everything that they owned.

They still haven’t quite recovered from my father’s overspending, but at least they are slowly digging themselves out of the hole.

How to Find Cheap Holiday Destinations

Posted By Admin on August 3, 2008 @ 5:52 pm

Sometimes I feel that when you go to travel agent that they want to sell you the most expensive vacation possible.  I suppose it makes sense as most of them are working on commission and the bigger the sale, the bigger their cut.

So instead of visiting a travel agent this year, I decided to take my search online looking for cheap holidays that I could afford.  Most of my searching was done on travel forums so that I could find unbiased reviews of great locations throughout the world.

In many of these forums, there is mention of a great beachfront town of Icmeler Turkey that seemed to have everything that I was looking for.  In fact, I was able to find cheap flights to Turkey and that made the location even more attractive.

So from now on, instead of talking to a travel agent, I think I’m going to look online to find cheap holiday destinations as well as get opinions and suggestions regarding where to go.

Business Forms Are an Essential Part of Running a Business

Posted By Admin on August 2, 2008 @ 11:18 am

Whether you are running a small one-person business operation or a large multimillion dollar company, there are a set of business forms that you will need for all aspects of your business.

These forms are essential in running your company as they provide the framework that you will need to ensure that all your bases are covered.

These forms can cover everything that you will need including company registers and HR policies.  Sure, they may provide a basic template for you, but they also give you the option of customizing them for your needs.  These forms can save you a lot of money in terms of legal costs and fees associated with hiring a professional company to design them for you.

If you are in need of business forms for your company, you can find them online or at your local business supply store.
