My dad has a Rolex replica watch and I never knew that until recently. I had always thought that it was real and I can say that I was more than a little bit disappointed to hear that it was a fake. He did not understand my disappointment, as he said we always seemed wealthier than we were because of things like this.
I told him that it didn’t matter if his watch replicas made him appear wealthier because he, himself knew the truth and that he was living a fantasy life. I think it would be hard for him to keep trying to be someone that he is not and I told him that people who love him would love him no matter what, but that he should give them a chance to know the real him, not the made up him.
He does not see things my way and will probably continue to purchase replica watches and pretend he belongs in a class that he really doesn’t, but I have done what I can and he knows that I will love him no matter what. I’m glad that I found out though, because maybe I can get to know the real him.
For those of you who have been over to my place in the last five years or so, you are all probably familiar with my old furniture. Not only is it old, but they are all donated pieces that I have picked up over the years. There is my old Lazy Boy recliner, and an old, falling apart love seat.
With my furniture in shambles, I have decided that it is time to get with the times and get some modern furniture. I was thinking a new couch, and recliner would be a good start. That was until I woke up this morning.
When I got out of bed today, the bed frame broke. That is definitely a shock when you wake up, and I decided to add some contemporary bedroom furniture to my list – a new bed, bed frame and dresser would be a perfect addition to my room.
I have just finished making a list of the contemporary furniture stores in town that I will go to today in an attempt to find something new. I think I won’t force it, but if a piece jumps out at me, I will buy it. For my friends out there, I will be having a party to show off my new furniture – I will let you know when I have all my furniture setup.
My uncle works as a Manhattan traffic violation attorney and he is really good at his job. He pretty much wins every case that he decides to take on and I have decided that he is going to be my mentor. I have always wanted to be a lawyer and I may as well pattern myself after someone who is great.
He recently won a case against a tough Bronx traffic violation lawyer. I got to have the pleasure of sitting in on the whole proceedings, from the time my uncle first met the client, to the time the judge decided on the case. It was a wonderful learning experience.
I had never actually thought of being a NYC traffic violation attorney. It sounds like a rather boring title, but now that I have been involved with it a little bit, I find it more and more fascinating and am aiming to head that direction in my career.
I am looking for some business information on a company that I was just told about recently. It is a search company that will locate literature that is no longer available, but was once in print. It is a must-have for people who are tracing their family history, as this company can usually also locate old documents.
They have some great home business reviews, as most of their employees are recruited and work from the comfort of their own homes. I am not looking for a career change, but I am looking for some information on my ancestors and this company fascinates me more than just a little bit.
There is not a lot of online business information available about them, as of yet, but I learned about them through word of mouth. I have an appointment next week to meet with one gentleman who will be taking on my “case”. I am optimistic that they will be able to help me find what I am looking for.
I suggested that they list themselves in the business guide and the owner didn’t think they were ready to be that big yet. He wasn’t even sure exactly what they would be listed under. I told him that he was a “private eye” for paper and he laughed.
Have you ever been to one of those really fun websites, where you are quickly addicted and have to go there everyday? I have just found one for myself and I absolutely love it. I know in a month or two, I will move on and my little online world will revolve around something different, but for now, this is me.
When I first got into the whole Internet buzz, many years ago, I wasn’t aware of what all the hype was about, but now I am becoming somewhat of a little guru, just like the rest of planet earth.
If you look at the bookmarks on my computer and my laptop, you will find that I go through phases on what interests me. I seldom clean up my computer, and there are probably things saved to my bookmarks that I have not opened in over two years. That could be scary.
Looking at some of the website ratings, I am sure that some of my past favorites do not even exist on the online world anymore. It is a fast, ever-changing existence and one might even go with Darwin and say that, on the Internet, only the fittest survive.
In any business, whether it be a product or a service that is offered, it is a good thing to occasionally get opinions and reviews. This will help you to be able to offer a higher quality product or service and meet the direct needs of the consumer.
My brother owns an accounting business and before every client leaves he says ‘I need your opinion on the service we offer’. He asks questions and gets feedback from everyone.
I think that he was right on the mark when he did this, as he has made many changes to the business over the years because of his client feedback and he is now one of the most successful accountants in the city.
Even though some may be negative, it never hurt a company to get views and opinions from it’s consumers. As far as I’m concerned, it is the best way to improve on what you already have.
I am a very informed person. I do not like to waste my money on gimmicks that do not work. I care very little about being trendy, but am all about usefulness. I think that may be one of the reasons that I like to read product reviews.
Consumer reviews can tell you a whole lot about the product. When I read consumer reviews, I can tell whether it is a fake push or whether the product really is good.
I tend to feel that website reviews are not as good as reviews that are printed right on the product. Where the Internet is involved, I think it is smart to not believe even half of what you read.
I like to watch programs like Consumer reports. It gives you news and opinions about different products and I find that they are not there to push a product, but rather to honestly inform the public of the products usefulness, or whether the product may even impose a risk for the user.
Now, a website with no marketing is no more than a speck of dust floating through space – chances are that no one knows that it is there. Now, if you were to market your website a bit, you would find that people and search engines would begin to notice the site and your visits would skyrocket.
How do you go about promoting your website? The trick here is to engage in a little link building to let everyone know that you are there. Some of the most common link building ideas include directory submission, article writing, and forum posting. While these methods will help you to get some traffic, there are other things that you need to do to get noticed.
You will find your search engine rankings and traffic will increase if you have some high value links pointing back to your site. A good way to do this would be to contribute constructive (and useful) comments on blogs that are related to your niche. You could also use social marketing and get other people to bookmark your website – and you might luck out and get links from people with high traffic profiles.
Just be sure that your link building strategies are not spammy in nature – if they are, you will cause more damage to your site and reputation. Just be sure to build a few new links everyday – and you will see traffic heading your way.
I was recently involved in an education seminar on making money work for you. Most people go out and work for money, but that is not the way to go to become successful. You must make the money work for you.
That is where you need to think outside the box. A wage is not going to make you rich. Neither is working eighty hours per week. You need to come up with something, out of the ordinary, and stick to it until it works.
Your next choice will be what exactly you are going to do to get the money working for you. There are lots of options, such as real estate and Internet marketing. That is where the education comes in.
I guarantee that anyone who thinks this way and follows this simple life logic will meet and grow rich with others who have set out to do the same things.
Perhaps the biggest thing I had to learn to grow my business is that I couldn’t do everything myself. That thinking was due to my role models growing up in business. You see, my father ran two businesses (notice the lack of successful – they do okay, but I don’t think either was very successful) and worked many hours to do everything for both businesses. Whether it was that he was too cheap, or too much of a perfectionist (which he is), his choices shaped and affected the lack of success his businesses enjoyed.
Now that I am older, and more mature (most days anyway), I try not to fall in this same trap. If it is something that I cannot do in house (me or my staff), then we outsource it, and forget about having to figure it out ourselves. For example, when we needed larger text message mailboxes for our sales reps mobile phones, we paid a company that specializes in SIM applications to create what we needed, instead of doing it ourselves.
Same goes for the new security cards that we insert in the chip card readers installed in our computers at work. We hired a card encoding company to create our own, custom security cards that allow access to all the computers, photocopiers and phones in our building – instead of trying to figure it out on our own.
The best part about outsourcing those tasks that we don’t specialize in is that we can get someone that knows what they are doing to do it, and we can focus on building the business, and making the money – which is what we should be doing anyway.
