Happy Endings

Posted By Twyla on January 28, 2008 @ 5:54 pm

Once upon a time, I was looking to buy my first house. I must admit, that I was a little bit naive and was not sure how to go about this. I had never even looked into mortgage loans and did not know how to be approved.

I went down to the real estate place, namely the bank to talk to someone about my options. There I met a really nice lady, who acted like she was there only for me and had my best interests at mind.

She suggested that, as a first time buyer, I go with an FHA loan. She explained everything to me and also approved me on that same day. I must say that she was more than a little bit helpful and I don’t know what I would have done without her.

I looked into some mortgage leads that I had written down, and threw them out. Now, I am all moved in and, after being raised by numerous foster families, for the first time in my life, I feel like I have a home. And, I loved happily ever after.

Slow Time at the Office

Posted By Twyla on @ 4:46 pm

When I finished high school, I decided to take classes at an online business academy. I do not regret this decision and I got a really good education. It was a bit harder not being in a classroom setting, but I loved that I could work at my own pace.

I am thankful for the school every day when I am sitting in the office, doing a job I never would have gotten without that diploma. It has been a fantastic journey and I have a better job than most of my friends.

Recently, I have been writing insurance reviews for an outside company. It is our slow months, so we take some outside contract work, on top of our regular office duties. I have been finding this both challenging and fun.

Last week we did some store reviews and they were impressed by how well I did. I have to admit, though, that I do love to shop and that may be one reason I was pretty knowledgeable with most of the stores we reviewed.

I Am Who I Am

I am one of those people who always read the business reviews in the daily newspapers. I absolutely love the business section, which is nice, because I really don’t have to fight with anyone for it. Everyone else wants the cartoons and want ads. That is what makes me different.

I love to read the business section and compare businesses that are making real profits. I especially like to keep and eye on which businesses are going public and the ones that have just recently gone public.

I am also the type of person who likes to make my own decisions on what investments that I have. I decide what companies to invest in and how much to invest. This is where following the business section really pays off.

Keeping up on profit systems is something that I really enjoy. Most people would find it completely boring, and if the truth be told, most people probably find me really boring, but I am who I am and that is about all there is to it.

Make Believe World

My cousin runs a website that dishes out the latest in net gossip. I must admit that I find the site rather amusing and I do check it out quite often, even if it is just to find out what she has been up to.

She tells everyone that it is a site for entertainment reviews, but half of the stuff on it is not true. That is why I prefer to call it a gossip site. I don’t know if she, herself, makes it up or if she has really bad sources, but I know most of it is hogwash.

If there is something she posted that I am unsure of, I check out ratingzone for the answers. They are always accurate and I find them to be a reliable source for everything entertainment.

That is where I find the most honest reviews. I go there for the truth. I go to my cousin’s website for entertainment. Because made up stuff about the entertainment industry is just plain entertaining. Those poor people.

Buying Gifts Wholesale

Posted By Twyla on January 24, 2008 @ 2:32 pm

I recently purchased an order of stainless steel jewelry from a lady that sells it from a catalogue in her home. I like the pieces and I thought if I just placed an order now, I could put it away and not have to scrounge for a gift for a long time, when I needed one on short notice.

She does not usually offer her clients the opportunity to place a stainless steel jewelry wholesale order, but she allowed me to as I was placing a rather large order and she would still be able to make a profit. She thought that I had been a good customer to her and she knows I will continue to be in the future.

Buying the wholesale stainless steel jewelry did not hinder any business she will get from me later on, as most of the pieces I ordered are the same and will be used as gifts. I will still be placing orders with her for my own personal pieces and she knows that.

I Don’t See The Difference

Posted By Admin on January 23, 2008 @ 9:22 pm

The other day I saw a bunch of replica watches and they really got me thinking about whether it really mattered to anyone if anything was real anymore or not. I know that replicas are the only way that some people can afford higher end things, but are they really any different than the real thing?

Take for instance, the Rolex replicas. I thought that they were really nice and had to be just as good as the original. But, I have never been really close to a real Rolex, so maybe they are different and maybe many people would be able to tell a real one from a replica.

I decided to check this out. I purchased one of the knock-offs and then went to a store that sold real Rolex watches. They were fifteen times the price I had just bought my fake one for. I asked if I could look at one. It was very similar to mine. I determined that it really does not matter at all.

Sites for My Son

Posted By Twyla on January 22, 2008 @ 1:00 pm

While I was looking for some good kids websites for my five-year old son the other day, I realized just how many websites there are out there that are filled with just stupid stuff. And it floors me as to how many of these are geared towards little kids.

I made it my mission to find some educational sites for him that would also be fun. I looked up the sites that had the best reviews for his age group. There were many of them and I had to now narrow it down as to what best suited him.

I did find some sites that were full of just cool stuff and I knew that he would be both fascinated and entertained by them. They also had at least a small level of educational material, which is what I was looking for.

I decided on five of them and sat him at the computer to try them out. He thought they were all very cool websites, and definitely picked his favorites very quickly. We bookmarked the ones he really liked and now, visiting the sites is one of his favorite things to do.

I Love My Brother

Posted By Twyla on January 21, 2008 @ 9:34 am

My brother and his wife own a jewelry store than mainly sells unique designer jewelry. It is not a fancy place and his prices are very reasonable. For this reason, his business does very well because there is something there for everyone and every budget. I always knew he would do something like this, as he has always had a good eye for what people would want.

I am also lucky because I know that every year, at Christmas and my birthday, I am going to get some luxury jewelry that I would never go out and buy for myself. In the four years since they opened, I have to admit that I have accumulated a nice collection.

He always gives me the most unique designer jewelry and says that every woman should have something that makes them feel pretty and that is what he hopes his pieces do for me. And, he is right, in that I do feel special when I am wearing them.

Learning from the Best

Posted By Admin on January 20, 2008 @ 9:53 pm

Before I started making websites, I found someone that could be my website advisor.  You could think of my advisor as my mentor.  He has a large number of sites and has experience doing what I am trying to accomplish which is an excellent resource for me.

Lately I have been getting advice and paying for SEO services from a search marketing firm.  Now, I won’t name names here, but the results have been less than stellar.  When I mentioned this to Mike (my advisor) he told me that there were more effective methods to promote my sites besides paying someone to do it – and it wasn’t going to be hard at all.

He suggested that I do some keyword research specific to my niche, write some articles, and then submit them to the many article sites that are on the web.  This way, I would get traffic to my sites and I would be building up my reputation as an expert in the field.

Do you know what my first reaction to this was?  It was that it sounded smart – really smart.  That is why I have a mentor – he is the best.

Something to Insert in a Blog Post

Posted By Admin on January 19, 2008 @ 12:35 pm

It seems that the more I visit blogs, the more I notice that they are using images or other digital media (such as video and sound) in their posts.  Now, if you notice, you don’t see anything like that here, and I seem to be falling behind – so I thought I would learn how to do it.

So, what I did was go to my favorite free search engine and look up how I could add images and video to my posts.  What I was really looking for was a free tutorial – I wanted to find a site that had nothing for sale, or some other motive to get me to use their site.  I was sure that there was at least one site out there that could show me how to do it.

And I was right.  In fact, I found quite a few sites that had the information that I was looking for for free.  After a quick read and a test, I think I have it figured out.

I have decided that I won’t go back into the archives and edit any of the old posts, rather I will make the effort in the new ones.  Hopefully sometime in the near future you will all get to see the results of my little endeavor.
